Carol Martin
Account Representative

Carol Martin is a regional Account Representative with the DRS Corporate Connections Program.  In this role she works as a business consultant, providing services to increase employment opportunities for individuals served by the Tennessee Department of Human Services, Division of Rehabilitation Services.  Carol conducts outreach and marketing activities to promote the benefits of employing people with disabilities within the business community.  She provides professional development and employment services to assist Tennessee businesses in recruiting, hiring and retaining qualified employees.  As a regional employment resource, Carol is located in Chattanooga and has been in this role since November, 2000.

Carol graduated with a B.S. Education from the University of Dayton (Ohio). Her Human Resources career includes two years as an executive recruiter and 18 years as a Corporate Director of Human Resources for Buster Brown Apparel, Inc., a multi-plant (11 plants), union and non-union, vertical manufacturing operation headquartered in Chattanooga, TN. While in this position, Carol was responsible for training all supervisors in all areas of legal compliance, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, ADA. She was responsible for ensuring that all jobs were analyzed and that all job descriptions included "essential functions."   In conjunction with the Engineering Department, she ensured that proper accommodations were provided for current employees with disabilities and new hires with disabilities. The Company's Affirmative Action Plan was prepared by Carol, who was responsible for educating the management regarding the Company's goals. Carol was also responsible for OFCCP audits of the Plan. Buster Brown Apparel, Inc. was dedicated to the concept of job carving for people with severe disabilities.

Following the closure of Buster Brown, Carol joined the University as a DRS Corporate Connections Account Representative.   During her tenure with Corporate Connections, she has been very active with the Chattanooga Area Employment Consortium, a group of service providers who offer job placement services to people with disabilities. Carol served as Treasurer, Secretary, and Awards Luncheon Chair and continues to hold that office. Over the years she recruited large local employers to serve on a Business Advisory Board for the Consortium. Many employers have also been involved in the annual Disability Awards Luncheon;  Go!Fest and various disability employment seminars.  Carol is a member of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce; SHRM and the Chattanooga Human Resources Management Association as well as the local SHRM Diversity Committee.  She also serves on the Chattanooga Mayor’s Council on Disability for whom she coordinated Chattanooga’s first Disability Job Fair in 2012.
