Janet Johnson Fricks,
AE Curriculum Coordinator

Janet joined the staff at the UT Center for Literacy Studies (the Center) in 2011 as an ABE/GED Curriculum Coordinator for the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workfor Development's Adult Education Professional Development grant. Janet works collaboratively with the Division of Adult Education in Tennessee to develop AE/GED curriculum and implement professional development services programs across the state.  Her duties include:  assessment training, development and implementation of teacher training and   workshops, curriculum development and revision, technical support for program supervisors and teachers.  She interacts with the local community, state and national organizations for the exchange of information and to establish relationships regarding AE/GED services. 

Her previous work experiences include classroom instruction K-8, K-12 Curriculum and Assessment Specialist for the Northwest Georgia Regional Educational Services, K-12 Curriculum and Staff Development Specialist for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, NC and Program Supervisor for Adult Education and Adult High School Director in Rutherford County, TN.

Janet’s undergraduate degree is in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Middle School Education. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education and Reading Instruction. She is currently certified in Tennessee to teach Reading K-12, Middle School and Elementary School.
