Melvin Jackson joined the Center for Literacy Studies in the Fall of 2011. Melvin has been a middle school teacher and a volunteer tutor in adult literacy. Melvin earned a Bachelor of Professional Studies degree with a concentration in Organizational Leadership (2006) and a Master of Professional Studies degree with a concentration in Strategic Leadership (2008) from the University of Memphis. Currently, Melvin is completing a Master of Arts in Teaching degree with a concentration in Instruction and Curriculum Leadership also at the University of Memphis.  

Melvin’s primary responsibilities are to provide professional development and technical assistance to teachers and others on helping high school students, including those with disabilities or other barriers, transition from high school to career or post-secondary education or training. Melvin resides in Memphis, Tennessee and is primarily responsible for self-determination training and transition consulting throughout west Tennessee.
